11-8-2009: Sorry for the inconvenience. We finally upgraded to vBulletin 3 !! See you there, Larry Making consoleGo to the Tech-Forums Discussion Home PagePosted by: Hello, I'm currently trying to make an 8 bit gaming console that plays cartriges with a few other soles (and one guy with no sole). However, the project is still in the planning stages. We need help from people who really know what they're talking about, and although I know basically what we need to do, there are some things that are shady. If you know anything about the following: programming chips (i.e. ROM) writing drivers displaying video circuit design (i.e. hooking up ROM to a processor) NTSC standards anything you think is helpful and would like to be a reference, please contact me the following ways: emailPhantomBantam@thetruth.com AIM:Phantomxbantam PM:tech forums ÑPhantomxBantam spymac.com ÑDr.Dog if you can tell us how to contact an electrician who could help us, or any websites and books please just post them here. Anyone who helps us will recieve thanks on the website, or official sponsor status Thank you in advance, The Phantom Bantam Posted by: bemanisuperstar Sadly the PC Engine which is technically an 8 bit machine. Is upwords of $300 in some places. Posted by: Techie23 The best thing to do is take an old nintendo hackit into bits and find out how it works. then build one based on what you find out. I'm not sure what all goes into on of those litle machines but all the parts should hae fcc numbers on them look up what they are and what they do then make your own parts that do relativly the same thing and add your own functionality to it. Posted by: Fcc numbers? What do you mean? Are they on the PCB? Posted by: bemanisuperstar I mis understood whatn you wanted to do. try doing hacks with the Neo Geo or genesis they are basically the same system. you'll want a 68000 processor either way. that's my recomendation. Posted by: No I won't, too much money. I'm going to use a zilog processor (something based on a z80) Posted by: bemanisuperstar Do you have access to a Tubrographix? study that. you might have something there Posted by: Techie23 Yes every PCB should have a FCC number on it you can look that number up on the net to find out what that particular part is or does. Could also be FCC ID# or some thing like that. Posted by: Techie23 What would be realy cool is if you could atach and LCD screen to the system and make it portable! Posted by: 2Crunk good luck man, if you finish it let me know i'm pretty interested in it Please Visit the Online Configurator, Email Hosting, Internet Marketing , Computer Schools , Software for Real Estate , AAOutlook , Search Engine Site |
