11-9-2009: Sorry for the inconvenience. We finally upgraded to vBulletin 3 !! See you there, Larry Best Mp3 Conversion Rate?Go to the Tech-Forums Discussion Home PagePosted by: unreal- 128, 160, 192, 256, or 320? Posted by: form First of all, what do you intend on doing with it? The higher the better but honestly 128 is considered cd quality.... Posted by: gravyspoon It depends on how much memory you want to take up and what you intend to do with the music. A bitrate of 320 will be about twice the size as that of a 128, but if it's just for home listening, stay between 128 and 192, if you go higher, you will suck your memory dry. Posted by: kvk007 Don't waste your time on anything more than 128. 128 does a very good job. Anything more makes you consume more space, and won't really see much difference in sound quality. Posted by: masq Lame v3.92 --r3mix (Variable Bit Rate) way to go. Posted by: azury uh?! Can't belive it... :) 128 - Good quality 194 - Cd quality 320 - Rare quality(couldn't notice the diffrence). Please, use 194kbps, is better. 128kbps is nice if you can't find anything else, but if you are converting yourself then use 194. Posted by: mac_mogul I always go with 192kbps. To go any higher, and to notice a difference in quality, you'd have to be converting from an HD CD. And the only HD CD I've seen so far is "Mamma Mia", the soundtrack. So stick with 192. It's not too high and it's not too low. And the memory difference between 128 and 192 is rarely more than 1 MB. Posted by: devlish96 same here!
