What are your opinions about gaming on widescreen LCDs? A WSXGA+ screen has a native resolution of 1680x1050. If I wanted to play a game at 1280x1024 on a WSXGA+ screen, would the game stretch the image in order to use the entire screen or would it only use part of the screen?

my opinion?...excellent! no stretching will happen,..altho pixels will somehow be visible...but minimal

I played games on my old VPR Matrix laptop that had the widescreen display. It looked pretty **** good IMO.

Key word was "had" a VPR Matrix. Here's a lovely story that will keep you away from them.

I got my VPR Matrix 200A5 as a gift. At first site I was happy as ****. Nice laptop, thin, great screen, designed by Porshe. I found out it was about $2500 upon release only available at Best Buy (VPR Matrix is subsidary).

After about 2 months of mild use the battery died. I didn't use it much. It was usually plugged in. Then I discover the screws where falling out of the bottom. I lost about 4 of them. Then the CD's would get stuck on eject from the CD/DVD drive. Then keys started falling off. Then the headphone jack went from Stero to Mono.

I can handle one of these things going wrong, but all of them in a 3 month old laptop that got no road wear? So I call VPR Matrix and they tell me to bring it to my local Best Buy. They tell me that I have to buy a new battery ($160) and that batterys die. Sure, show me a laptop battery that dies in 3 months. Then they say that I have to call the support center to have them send me the screws for the bottom. They don't carry them. (even though they're a repair center). So I call and they tell me it's a non-sendable part. So I go to my local hardware store and they don't sell any that will fit.

So I send the laptop back at they're charge. They send it back to me refirbed. I didn't even take it out of the box. I put it on e-bay and got rid of it.

Needless to say, I'll stay away from that brand. I should have gotten the Toshiba satalite.
