Video files making odd sounds..

I only started hearing this noise a few weeks ago and am clueless to what is going on with my video files.

It sounds like scratching on a record kinda, very high pitch sound and some video files even lag, like the singing doesn't play the same time the person mouth moves, but the lag issue only happens to certain files.

I use Winamp 3 and Window's Media Player 9, and the files were working excellent, no noticeable sounds or anything coming from the video's. I even tried another program and that too makes the same noise as the others.

The file types are avi or mpeg.

I'm really stumped and ****ed cause some of these are pretty hard to find, and my worst fear is that the files have been damaged somehow, and cannot be fixed.

Anyone know whats the dealio? Thanks in advance.
