Question: Clean Install vs. Upgrade

Dealing with NT4 Servers, moving to Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

Would you rather upgrade the os? Or do a clean install? Reasons for that?

I'd personally rather do a clean install to clear out any accumulated dross from the previous os, as well as making sure there are no software incompatability issues.

Thoughts?

Run a clean install. You'll be much happier in the long run
I think you won't be happy with the results if you just upgrade. I've done a few winNT->win2k upgrades and winme->win2k upgrades and almost all of them were unstable in some regard.

also winnt32 is the presetup program that win2k uses, to take your intial install choices and copies all the setup files to the hard drive...if that helps.

Except that bosses need some good backing in reasons. I think most people who've dealt with MS products would favor the clean install.

The problem is that I need to write a proposal for it. The best reason I've had so far is:

Incompatible software
Holdover problems

Clean install all the way, clean slate = less probs.
