9-9-2010: Sorry for the inconvenience. We finally upgraded to vBulletin 3 !! See you there, Larry Fable, possibly the best rpg ?Go to the Tech-Forums Discussion Home PagePosted by: narcot1kz www.fablegame.com man i watched some trailers on this game , it looks like the perfect rpg the way you can choose your fate (good or evil etc ..) I think HOPEFULLY it will be one of the best rpg's ever Posted by: Shakie Pretty cool website. Posted by: narcot1kz you can watch the trailer here http://www.gamespy.com/games/3159.shtml Posted by: -[HARDCORE]- the game has potential and is obviously been putting up alot of hype by the developers of the game claiming to be "the best rpg". I have no doubt that this will be a good game..but i don't think it'll ever be considered as one of the best rpg's. Posted by: narcot1kz The more i read about this game the more I want it it seems more and more amazing ,now that i read up on some of the things you can do Posted by: dethangel yeah, it looks pretty cool Posted by: Quantum It could be RPG of the year but I have 2 problems with it already. 1. Plot is to kill raiders who killed your family. Needs improving. 2. From a preview, it only has 16 spells. For a fantasy game, it needs more since NeverWinter Nights had lot more than that. It could be a new method for RPGs too. It is an experiment afterall. Posted by: U-Toast at first, when the game was still in project (project ego) it looked amazing, and i thinnk it still does, but there are a few things, they already have been posted above, but yes shurly gona be one of the best. But this is the time when the new generation of games is comming, out, i wouldnt be surprised if new amazing rpg or w/e games come out now. Posted by: ryunix Fact is this game is ground breaking in more ways then any other RPG I can think of, and I’m old! :) Bottom line will come down to how well the innovations are implemented, and until we play it we won’t know. As for the plot comment... I am personally tired of saving the world in ever game i play, a good old fashion revenge plot is refreshing. Also another note there is only 8 plot lines in the world people just change the variables -ryunix Posted by: CrazedDude omg yea, that game is supposed to be KICKASS. Gamespot.com has already reviewed it, and although I am too lazy to go and recheck what it got, I believe it got a score in the upper 80's, so it must be a great game. That is definetely a must-buy for me. Posted by: Crypty Looks good, no doubt about that, but it got a 9.3 on IGN, and I don't think that would be the score of the 'best rpg.' Posted by: Stotan This game ROXORZ. I haven't played it my self but I've been watching friends and Man this game rules the only complaint that I've heard is the targeting system is craptastic it target the wrong this and then it won't untarget to a new target unless you move around and refocus your sights. My friends play for 12 hours. they finished the game in that time but the game lets you continue after you finish the story line game and it continues to make more quests... Posted by: Crypty I got the game and I am having a blast with it. It's not like any other rpg. It's a LOT more real. Example: I wander into someones house and go upstairs where I find 2 beds. A choose to sleep there for the night. When I wake up there is a little girl in the room who immediately yells IM TELLING! Then guards come up the stairs and force me to pay a fine or fight/run. Everything affects somthing else in the game. So my advice to all who are playing is don't ever assume that the your actions wont have consequences. Posted by: ryunix Wish i had an XBox and fable *crys* Posted by: Crypty Oh yeah. I got it. It's unbelieveable, it's amazing. Been playing for likr the last 4 hours. Would play all night but I have to work :( . Posted by: Stotan If anyone reads penny-arcade and likes fable you may not like this or agree with it what ever : Fable Fri, September 17 2004 - 6:47 PM by: Gabe I was worried that when Fable came out I’d get sucked in and I wouldn’t have time to play Burnout 3 and Phantom Brave. So I’m actually kind of glad that Fable was a huge disappointment. So in Fable you have a very small world divided up into dozens of tiny zones. Each of these zones sufferers from the “you can go anywhere you want…as long as you stay on the ****ing path” school of game design. A winding path will take you through each one of these zones and you don’t need to worry about accidentally wandering off the path and getting lost. You’ll quickly notice that someone has placed sturdy impenetrable bushes, broken fences, rocks, and impassable pools of shallow water all along the road. The entire game may as well be played on rails as your options for exploration are essentially zilch. The really awesome thing about these tiny, linear zones is that they require an insane load time. Traveling from one side of the map to the other will require you to spend nearly as much time loading as playing. Thankfully at some point the designers realized that traversing their ******** world was a real pain in the *** and so they decided to let you teleport wherever you want. I imagine this conversation went something like this: Girl: “Wow, running around in our game ****ing sucks.” Guy: “What if you could just teleport wherever you wanted to go?” Girl: “That doesn’t solve the underlying problem. Shouldn’t we instead address the fact that navigating our game world is a *****?” Guy: “We should have sex.” Whoa, that certainly got hot! In my imagination all work place encounters between men and woman result in clandestine sex. Not only do these tiny zones require loading but you also have to load every time you want to use a shovel or a fishing pole. The idea is that there is treasure buried all over the world just waiting to be dug up. However each time you want to dig you need to select the spade from your menu and then wait as the game loads the digging animation, at this point you will either get some treasure or you’ll see your character sigh. Then you get to wait again as it takes you back to the regular game. I dug twice before I was totally ****ing sick of it. So what’s going on in-between all this loading? Well you’re playing an extremely linear and limited hack and slash adventure game combined with a shitty version of the Sims mixed with animal crossing only minus all of animal crossings charm and inspiration. If you want to just play through Fable as fast as you can, it’s a boring but passable action RPG. The combat is awkward at first and the camera is frustrating but you can have some fun with it for a couple of hours. Thankfully that’s all the time you’ll need to invest if that’s how you decide to play the game. If you decide you want to buy a house or flirt with a girl you certainly can. You can also spend an insane amount of time dressing and building up your character. In fact a huge part of the game revolves around making your character look awesome. I can see how this might be cool in an MMO where you could show him off to other players but in Fable no one else will ever see your character. You can’t even take screen shots and upload them via live into some kind of online Fable hero’s picture album to share with your friends. You spend so much time in this game working on a character that you can never share with anyone else. I actually saw forum threads in which people were trying to describe how cool their characters looked to each other. They would try and explain how their particular hair cut really accentuated a certain tattoo. These people are so desperate to share their characters that they were trying to take photos of their TV screens. In my opinion, none of Fable’s “open ended” game play works in the context of a single player game. Things like owning shops, becoming renowned and impressing people with your sharp dressing just aren’t cool when the world is populated by pre-programmed puppets rather than living people. Also if you can’t understand why it looks like *** on your HD television here’s a little trick. Fable will sometimes refuse to run in 480p, but you can force it to by going into your dashboard. Open the tray with Fable in the drive and then go into your video settings in your dashboard. Turn off 480p and then turn in back on. Now hold both triggers and click both thumb sticks. This will force your Xbox into 480p mode and you can just close the drive and start Fable. Now if there was a series of buttons you could press in order to make it worth 50 bucks. -Gabe out Posted by: ryunix Ouch, perhaps renting will be my choice. I was thinking this would be an improved morrowind. I supose the AI is better, which would be very nice but it you cant explore the world... that is a big disapointment. I will say everyone at my work loves it. One guy said that he had to do the most evil thing he could to get into these Devil doors, so he killed his wife then barried her. Now that is alot of freedom and im sorry for the type of example i jsut gave. But to be fair you could not explore in any Final Fantasy games and they are still very good (ok 2, 3, and 7 where) Posted by: Darkman7 From the sub-title, many people may believe that I do not like this game from Lionhead Studios, which is untrue, as I believe they, eventually, released the best RPG for the XBOX. However Fable's features aren't as 'revolutionary' as once originally thought, and I believe it wouldn't be able to stand up to more established RPG titles (such as Netherwinter Nights and even Zelda on the Gamecube). Its not to say that Fable isn't an excellent game with some great AI, its just a lot of the features which were being touted over the last 3 years have been simplified or removed altogether. I have just finished the game, and although I left a few side quests open, I finished it within 14 hours! Not that great when you've been waiting for a game for nearly 4 years, then finish it within a week. Its fun, but a little substance light. The actual story begins with the hero trying to obtain enough money to buy his sister a present. The way in which he does this is by doing deeds around the village. This also leads to the other well talked about factor of the game - your moral allegiance. Depending on how treat other NPC's, You will either be looked upon as a hero or a villain. On paper, this sounded like one of the 'innovative' features as it shapes the way you actually look on the game - but you can cheat! There are temples in the game which higher or lower your moral bar in exchange for gold (which is cheating if you ask me, and takes away that urge to play through it a second time). Graphically and aurally the game is top notch though, detail is almost second to none in the environments, and it probably is the best looking RPG I've ever played. Muscles expand and contract with every movement of the body, Scars from battles stay with you throughout your life on the game. Customisation of the character is varied and fun. Tattoos, haircuts, beards, clothes can all be tweaked until the you have your right combination, and experience points can be spent on the character boost stats and appearance. Music is very impressionable! You really do feel like your part of a big-budget Hollywood movie (Was it Danny Elfman - of Spiderman fame - who wrote and composed the music?). Sound effects are equally as impressive. The sounds of the woodland come alive when traveling - you can even hear grass blowing in the wind! Got to wrap this up so I'll finish with just saying the game is worth the time taken to play it. Its just not as impressive as I thought it was going to be. However the content which is there is fresh and immersive, making it really hard to put down. Oh and when you see the sex scenes, You won't be able to stop laughing! Not bad then, but just don't believe the hype! Its good to play together.............................................:D Posted by: qprime unless it expend the game and make more quest and more equips and stronger enemy.. i thiink it is wasted... game too short.. and too easy... f ur summoning spell is strong enough and u have good weapon u can distroy whole towns.. i personally bought all of oakvale -_-||| the guards are too easy to kill...
