so, Im building a new computer, and I want to be able to overclock, so to increase airflow Im trying to make a ribbon cable free case. My problem is that I can only find one SATA optical drive, and it isn't what Im looking for. Im looking for a cd/rw drive that spins at a high speed, and a DVD dual format dual layer burner. Do either of these exist, and if not, does anyone know if anyone is planning on making them? thanks

(PS, I dont want to use a cable converter)

Why not just use round IDE cables or make them yourself?

Mainly because I want to build an all SATA system .... the motherboard I am buying has 8 SATA ports so I figured I better use at least 4 of them to justify the cost. I've been told that the drives can't match the SATA throughput, so they offer no real advantage, so basically I'm doing it for the satisfaction. If I can't find a SATA drive at a cost near the price of a regular drive, I'll settle for round IDE, but if I can have SATA for an extra $20 or so I'll do it.

( I have found an MSI CD-RW SATA drive that must have been discontinued, and BenQ was supposed to release a DVD Dual Format Dual Layer SATA drive but I cant find that anywhere. )

I heard that SATA throughput isn't realistically all that great. Perhaps you'd be better off in buying rounded IDE cables?

Yeah, I've decided to go with the round ide cables. I guess it came down to not breaking the bank. I found what I was looking for, but the cd-writer alone was $60 after shipping OEM. Thanks to both of you for the help.
