How much do you want to spend?

You can go standard stero and 5.1 out on the digital or you could get a multi-channel soundcard for hardcore audio...

These multi-channel cards include:

Midiman Delta series
Digidesign Digi 001
TerraTec DMX 6fire 24/96

You can also try out a Soundblaster Audigy - I think this is a stereo card (haven't tried one out yet), but it has a firewire port for firewire audio. Also I believe this is certified to work with Avid Xpress so it must be pretty good...

Not that i'm bias or anything...

go with a soundblaster x-gamer 5.1 and some klipsh pro-media 5.1 speakers, cant go wrong!

If you're going with Creative, you'd be better off with an Audigy.. they're getting pretty cheap nowadays, and they're great cards.
