not TOO many years ago I bought a 233 mHz intel cpu based computer thinking it was the greatest thing since bread. It runs 2K now.

Now handhelds have more processing power...

how fast are they now?
at least 500 something, right?
Do they have 3D accellerators?

lets stop and take a look at how far speed and size have come in just a few years... :)
something to think about
computers are becoming so powerful that prototypes do not have enough power to run.... lol

Yeah, it doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I had a 386SX 8 MHz PC with only 1MB of RAM running DOS 4.0 and GeoWorks Ensemble. That thing only had a 40MB hard drive in it. My parents bought it in 1990 and I inherited it when they bought a new computer in 1995. That was my first computer, and I played Wolfenstein non-stop on it. Those were the days.

Lol!! The nostalgia! Those were the days when wolfenstine came on 1 3.5" floppy!! Do you happen to remember the old Duke Nukem??

Posted by: beedubaya

You mean the 2D version. You mean I wasn't the only person who had it!

Posted by: winblowz

duke nukem... :) that was the stuff lol

Commander Keen rocked...back then, of course. Anybody play Lemmings?

Posted by: bla!!

YES!! Lemmings! Make em all ticking time bombs!! Then sit back and watch the fire works.

Anyone ever play the very first leisure suit larry (land of the lounge lizards). That was where it's at!!

Posted by: beedubaya

Leisure Suit Larry...hmm...I think I played it, back in the days when games came on 5 1/4" floppy.

Hmm, i was messing around with an amiga a500+ at the time, i think it was a good move, a: games where cheap, and that was the important factor. b: it did have a programming language and compiler called amos, not very important then, but it helped to get my feet wet in programming. c it had a keyboard, so while everyone else was messing around with nes and snes or whatever, i could touch type.

I never could find my way down to the Pyramid of Forbidden Lies, though. I looked everywhere for the secret entrance. I can't replay that game though, the graphics are...just too.............horrid in this day and age.

Those games were fun and all, but I'd have to say my favorite game was Scorched Earth, hours of fun.

I think there were some old mac's at my more earlier schools that had a macintosh port of the game.

There is no comparison between classic games and games of today. Classic games just have a different "feel" than games of today. For example, I remember when a first person shooter was all about flipping swiches and finding keys to get out of the level. Now, first person shooter games are cinematic, almost like a movie. Classic games are still fun to play because they offer something that modern games can't, as modern games offer stuff that classic games can't.

the best game i ever played(old game) was called galatic something or other, it was for the amstrad, i wish i could remember the name cos there's no doubt some place i can download a version for the pc
