11-8-2009: Sorry for the inconvenience. We finally upgraded to vBulletin 3 !! See you there, Larry Yahoo Mail - 100MBGo to the Tech-Forums Discussion Home PagePosted by: ZhengHe I don't know if anyone has noticed or not, but Yahoo Mail has upgraded their mail capacity from 4MB to 100MB. Thats a 2500% increase from what it had been, which is quite a bit. Granted, when and if Gmail comes out it will still have about 10x more capacity. Still, this is still a big step in the right direction for Yahoo Mail. Thats alot more capacity and I don't think I'm being facetious in saying that this is just a taste of things to come. If Gmail is to become a reality, which I very much agree it will, then all other email clients will come under fire. I mean, logically, which one would you pick? 5MB or 1000MB. The obvious answer is the 1000MB assuming that Gmail contains most of the features that normal email clients have. Who wouldn't pick more capacity? I mean, barring a major flaw or security risk I would jump to get Gmail. Still this reality is still some period away. As I said in the beginning, Yahoo Mail, free Yahoo Mail now has a capacity of 100MB, which I believe makes it at least one of the highest capacity email clients currently, if not the highest capacity email client. This puts Yahoo mail, for all means and purposes at the top of the heap for now. In consequence anyone who has or uses Yahoo Mail to any extent now has 96 extra MBs to work with, so enjoy. Just though you guys might want to know that.:D PS: Here's the link just in case you don't believe me. http://us.info.mail.yahoo.com/ Posted by: didi Ya, mines account also upgraded to 100MB. Very happy! Posted by: poipo mine is 1000 megs. i love teh gmail. Posted by: Federal Retard poipo, if you want to brag about things why not share the experiance...GIVE ME AN INVITE. lol. Posted by: TrowaBarton Yah, that's awesome about Yahoo. Gmail's space is wonderful sure... BUT... I don't want them reading every word and every line of my emails and then possibly selling that information to other companies for marketing and reporting statistics. Anyone have any idea if the Yahoo policy changed with the space increase? Posted by: newguy4 I just got an invite today to be a gmail member but I dont think I got any invites. Where are the invites located and do all people get them? Posted by: poipo you have to be a member for a certain amount of time to get invites. and trowabarton, it's an funny automated process that is just used to put ads on the lift column of the webpage. if you are worried about privacy, nothing is private these days. Posted by: Qiranworms Hmm...I just signed up for a Yahoo account. I can see that space coming in handy. Thanks for that info Zheng. :) By the way, if anyone who has a GMail account is willing to be charitable to a random person you don't know, send an invite to wahclavi@yahoo.com ;) Actually, change that to canadanet@rogers.com ... apparently Yahoo is putting GMail invites into the Junk Mail folders...hmmmm... Posted by: gfender I heard a rumor that Hotmail might be doing the same in the near future. Anyone else heard this? Posted by: newguy4 qiranworms I just sent you an invite but just remember to pass it on to others on this board when you get yours that is my only request. tell me if you recieve it. PLEASE PASS IT ON Posted by: gfender That would be great if you could pass on the invite, qiranworms. I would love to have a gmail account. If you can, send me an invite: gabefender@hotmail.com. Thanks! The entire policy can be found at: http://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/privacy.html Posted by: chog Got a GMail account today and 1gig is awesome! Posted by: zr2d2 Hotmail is increasing their storage limit to 250MB with a 10MB sending limit. No word on when Posted by: ZhengHe Supposed to happen in a little less then 2 weeks. I got an email notifying of it. I wrote up a thread on it if you want to read the email. Ballpark guess I would assume that they'll upgrade in say 12 days. Posted by: Wartorment
Originally posted by poipo mine is 1000 megs. i love teh gmail.
I've got 2 gigs, thanks to me having Yahoo! DSL, I get a free members account. Well they said it would be updated soon. When I wrote that post they were hinting at next week. I thougt I was being generous. Now there's talking about updating in the Fall. Typical MS. Just like that SP2. I hope it really is updated in the fall, but I'm not holding out hope. Posted by: saravanakumar send me an invite at sendtosar@yahoo.com plz Posted by: saravanakumar even rediffmail gives u 1000mb of storage space, but rediff sucks often Posted by: ZhengHe I know of a couple other very large capacity internet email clients, just follow the link: http://www.tech-forums.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20350 Posted by: dumdum8684 another thing that has changed on Yahoo mail is that they don't count junk mail in your 100 MB quota like they used to...i like that a lot Posted by: silence782 I used my yahoo account pretty much daily, so this upgrade is pretty cool. But isn't a 1Gig email account alittle excessive unless your a small bisness or something? Posted by: spartanM19SSM send an invite to spartanM19SSM@yahoo.com plz Posted by: A_Zip1 Hmm yeah i dont really know what gmail is.. but sounds interesting... if you got nothen better to do, you can send me an invite at.. Andrew_a43@hotmail.com Posted by: mdshort Yea sure its a wonderful thing, but this is old news. I can't wait until msn/hotmail upgrade their space to the same or more. I use my yahoo account for business, because their reliable.
