11-21-2009: Sorry for the inconvenience. We finally upgraded to vBulletin 3 !! See you there, Larry PfModNT serviceGo to the Tech-Forums Discussion Home PagePosted by: toonker I have a problem with my system. Just recently it started freezing, and had to totally reboot it to get it to work again. Could not use mouse or keyboard on freeze. Running windows 2000 pro. In event viewer, this message keeps popping up about the service control manager : The PfModNT service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. Any help would be much appreciated. Posted by: mikesgroovin Do you have a Sound Blaster card in your system? -Mike Posted by: JGWB This is a typical bug of Creative Audigy 2 drivers. The work around for that is to go into Device Manager and view all hidden devices there. Now look over Non-PnP-Drivers (Non Plug and Play Drivers). Two errors should be visible here. One at "PfDetNT" and the other at "PfModNT". With the right mouse button select "properties" and change then the startup type of PfModNT to "System" and the startup type of PFDetNT to "On Demand". Then reboot the system and no more errors appear. Because this is an old error I wonder whenever Creative is going to fix that. Posted by: doug-jensen PfModNT still is stopped and when I try to start it I get "The system cannot find the file specified." It is located in windows/system32/drivers. --Doug (doug@jensen.org) Please Visit the Online Configurator, Email Hosting, Internet Marketing , Computer Schools , Software for Real Estate , AAOutlook , Search Engine Site |
