11-8-2009: Sorry for the inconvenience. We finally upgraded to vBulletin 3 !! See you there, Larry installation problems, Windows XPGo to the Tech-Forums Discussion Home PagePosted by: Chuck My daughter enjoys playing the Sims on our PC. We have easily installed most of the games. But Unleashed and Sims Vacation won't install and an error message always comes up: the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. We have windows XP. I am a relative novice with PC gaming. Has anyone had this problem trying to install games? Thanks for any suggestions. Chuck Posted by: Martin Be sure your machine's hardware device drivers are up-to-date first, just to check. Run Windows Update from the browser to ensure the latest. As far as I know, games such as Sim Theme Park are incompatible with XP, but just try the above first to be safe. :) Posted by: Vile Is it original, or a backup? I ask, becuase it may have been a bad burn or something of the sort. All of the Sims games should work fine on XP. Is this the only game that has given you the above error message?
