ie opens and loads porn on its own!!

When i am not doing anything (not browsing the web, etc) on my computer and it is left for a few mins, a few internet explorer windows open full of porn and my homepage is set to 'http://www.power-search.info/'.

i have not downloaded anything that looks suspicious and am normally very careful about these sorts of programs.

i have scanned for viruses several times with the latest definitions and found nothing. spybot and bps also dont find anything. i have also checked to see what starts up with windows and again, nothing unusual there. One final thing, when i shut down or log off i get a 'end task' box saying its closing 'win min'. This has only started since the porn. i cannot find any programs called win min either.

if anyone can offer any suggestions i will be very grateful.

Smells of Spyware to me bud...

You'll need to get 'Spybot - Search & Destroy' and also Ad-Aware from Lavasoft.

Install and run BOTH and simple remove all the bad entries that it finds...

Download the utility from this website

Put a check on first three checkboxes.
Click on start cleaning.
If it says that a dangerous program has been detected, click on "remove it"
Restart the computer after it finishes the cleaning.

Download CWShredder:

Unzip, run and hit the ->fix tab to fix all found problems

CWShredder takes advantage of seurity holes in windows so you should install all critical as well as hotfixes available from windows update.


Then repost a fresh Hijack this log .

Download 'Hijack This!'. [url]http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/[/url] and save it to a folder on your desktop.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Why don't you just start using another Internet Browser. Such Firebird (Firefox now) or opera. They both have pop up stoppers.

Mostly because people have to have the bells N things. And the others do not have them.

I have to use Netscape 7.1 because IE is SOOOOOO slow. But if you get a newer netscape, then it should be fine.
