I find myself most of the time playing TCs for Doom.

Here's one I'm currently hooked on: (Doom 64 TC for Doom II+JDoom)

Even if you hate Doom 64, it's still quite enjoyable, as you don't have to deal with choppy turning and the fuss over the analog control stick.

cant wait till Doom 3. Someone here downloaded a demo on his 2.6GHz laptop or something and it ran SLOW. it makes me kinda thinks that the game is power hungry.

there is a new front end for doom and doom2 called legacy, all you need are the wad files and runs in win32. it adds more options, crosshairs, skins, up to 32 players, etc. :)

Thats probably because its not optimized yet. Besides even John Carmack said that the minimum requirements were 1.0 GHZ, 256 Ram, Atleast GeForce 2 and a HUGE HD :)

If you think doom is too old youshoudl try this heckif youlove doom youshould try this too this is the only way to play it now in my opinon it revamps doom with a better 3d engine an you can even add 3D models to the guns and enemies although I like the sprites better the levels look awsoem and the lighting effects are spectacular its still not as good as some new er games but it definately kicks the crap out of the original version works under windows XP and every thing.
