hi guys, i am wondering what is a good linux distribution, that will not require partitioning, or have an extremely ez prog built in for this?....i have winxp and for now need to be able to keep using it, until i get more familiar with linux...thak you in advance for any help.

if you want to keep your windows as a bootable os you can do a dual install, but a major part of linux using redhat/fedora as far as I know is partitioning.
Don't hold me on that statement because I have yet to try other distributions such as debian or mandrake

thank u admiral....i do believe you are right...but what i really am looking for, as stated in original, is a distro suggestion, what do u use, do u like it, was it fairly easy to install, etc? partitioning is something that i do think will be inevitable for me to know, was just looking to focus more on the learning curve of the os itself...thank you for your reply

what do u think of knoppix admiral? have u heard anything about it good or bad?

Knoppix doesnt require you do anything. No install or partitioning at all. This just means you can experience its features then when your done pop the cd out and go back to your windows install.

wow I shoulda tried that distro first, took me a good 3 days to figure out why auto partitioning wasnt working with fedora. Gotta download that one before I go home from college.
sry for not answerin the question that fast I had finals since I last posted nachral I'm using Fedora Core 1 (replacing redhat as it goes enterprise). A friend mentioned it so i thought I'd try it out and I wasn't dissapointed, its alot different than windows which is what I was looking for. Not that that is saying much, any of the distros should be a pleasant change from windblows :D
