This is probably a stupid question. But Im still a lil iffy in how link exchanging works? I hear about it alot.

Basically you create a link on your website to another website and they do the same on theirs.

The idea is that if done right your search engine rankings will improve due to your site being more popular and having more links to it.

You can also get extra traffic if visitors of the other site follow the link.

The search engines count each link going to you as a 'vote' re your site's quality. They also factor in the TEXT of the link pointing to you compared with the text ON your site. Finally, they look at whether the sites that YOU are pointing to are bad... if they are, you get penalized.

I hope this is of use to ya cuz I learned it when building the homepage of my sorority. It was very interesting emailing/contacting page partners.
