The 6600GT is the graphics card that I want, but I'm not sure if my Dell dimension 2400 (lowend PC) could take it. Do you think it would run smooth if i bought this card or would I have to upgrade other components first so it runs properly?

Well firstly we'll need to know the specifications of this computer of yours.
Secondly XFX isn't the best brand, you'd be better off with eVGA or Leadtek.

I will almost guartnee that you dont have a PCI-E slot
Open up your computer and take a picture of the slots, and than we will know which cards will fit :)

If you don't have an AGP slot, and I doubt you have a PCI-E slot, you probably have a regular PCI slot :-\
