Would it be possible transfer the parts into a diffrent case??

Wow can you get anymore vague?

It would have to support mATX I believe, and a high PSU wouldn't do too well with it.

You have to buy a case, motherboard, power supply and a operating system. Then yeah you can tranfer all the parts and rebuild.

Good Luck.

Because dell have recovery copy's that only work on the dell that they came with. I am not even sure if the CD KEY is good with other copy's...

...and for good reasons...

If its the same parts, i don't see a reason y he needs a new mobo, psu, and os. If the mobo and psu fits, than no new os.

Posted by: heifsin85

I guess u could drill holes in the case to fit the psu (dell psu's are different sizes then others). and dell mobos are gay and dont like anti-dell cases.

But they wont fit :)

Seriously, it would be easier to put the parts in a cardboard box, that's how screwed up they are.

Ok. All Dell's ship with OEM operating Systems. When Dell builds your piece of crap and installs the OS on your POC they authenticate the OS online with microsoft. Which is for the DELL PC. During this process information about this POC is sent to microsoft with the serial key for the OS. Now, this OS is only good for 1 machine. Sure you can reinstall it over and over and over again on the same machine, but it's already been authenticated.

Now, try installing this DELL OEM software on a rebuild with a new MOBO and other hardware. You will have to try to reauthenticate it online. And guess what will happen when you try that???

You'll get a message like this one, "This software is already licensed to another computer." Sorry you are SOL!!!!

That's why you need a new OS. Either new OEM or FULL version...

Thanks you goodnight!!!

And even a phone call saying your dell burned into many little peices, and I payed for the OS will not help you?

Posted by: timmer

yeap u can take all the hrdware and put it in a new case no problem

Posted by: GuitarFreak1857

why do you want a different case anyway? more fans?

Posted by: joshd

so how much on ur machine can you replace, before ur os stops working? is it just mobo and proc? or does ram and expansion cards bugger it up aswell?
