what are things i need to look at for graphics cards

Core/memory speeds, pipes, pixel shader support, VRAM (depends on card), DVI ports, VIVO ports, depends on what you are going to use it for

How much do you have? Are you gaming? Take a look at some in your price range, and check [url]www.tomshardware.com[/url] and/or [url]www.anandtech.com[/url] for benchtests of the games.

(Btw. Nvidia is prefered atm. due to Pixel Shader Model 3 support, that the next gen games will use. ATI will be realising their X900/R520 soon, which will support PSM3.)

6 series and above as well, and soon X900 series and above.
