I am fixing a dell inspiron 5160 laptop for a coworker. She brought it in and said her son was downloading music on it, last she knew and now when you try to turn it on, it wont. The only thing that happens is the power light flashes orange ten times when the power button is pushed. It is plugged in so there is power. no fans start or anything just the light.

after doing some dell troubleshooting, i believe the problem is with the power. i am guessing the orange light is flashing because the battery is dead. when i take the battery out and have it plugged into the wall, no orange light. the power light also does not go on. I just am not sure what might be causing this power problem.

Is it in hibernation mode? Try typing in some random keys to see if it boots.

But if it turns out to be a problem with the computer, I suggest taking it to an authorized Dell repair center, I checked the specs on that model, and it looks fairly new. The warranty should still be in effect.

if it has warranty always use that and check to see if the warranty is waved if you open it up etc
