hi everyone. everyone keeps saying that the average score for a 6600 GT is around 3500. just wondering whats going on with me. my specs are

p4 3 ghz
512 valuram and 256 micron ram

im not sure what else i should put in here but can some please help me

that score sounds ok to me, i dont no how much cpu and RAM affects the score i have an AMD64 3200+, 2 gig of RAM and a geforce 6800GT and i got 5500 score.

3380 3dmarks on my setup which has a 6600GT also. Since I can really only use one processor for the benchmark, your P4 should be close to or slightly better than my score. I'd say theres something wrong, but more than likely your system is starved for RAM.

That score is low, I would say 3000 at least. Did you just upgrade the card? Did you upgrade from an ATI? That is the biggest reason I have seen people with problems. Reformat is the best sollution after switching cards.

If this isn't an ATI -> nVidia switch, how about drivers. Are you using the most current version?

ya it was an ati to nvidia upgrade. and i updated my driver yesterday.

If it was me, I would reformat. If you are seriously opposed, you could try using that program to completely remove your old ATI drivers.....

hey everyone. alrite iv reformated my hard drive and reinstalled everything. my score on 3dmark 05 now is 2921. do you guys think it could be my crappy ram thats killing it?

Posted by: diabloII

your score sounds perfectly normal to me....

i get 3100+ with 6600 gt 512 ram. Oc that 6600gt.

Posted by: AEagle20

3216 with the stuff in my signature.

Posted by: hercules_upw

6200 3D marks (05) with the stuff in my sig! :)

Any how, If i had to guess, i would say it's your RAM. Its kind of hard to make an accurate call without full system specs....Is this a custom job or a store-bought brand computer?

What is the speed of the RAM? PC 3200? PC 2100?

If you're running two different speeds of RAM, both RAM modules will run at the LOWEST RAM speed.

Finally i would like to point out that 2883 score is not bad. It's just a tiny bit low in my opinion.

this is a custom job computer. the ram is kingston valuram at pc 3200 but the micron is 2100. im going to get a gig of dual channel corsair ram. the 400 pc 3200. hopefully that will help

Get that freaking Micron out of there, that is killing your performance. All the RAM must run at the same speed so your 3200 is getting severely underclocked. Trust me, even without the extra 256mbs, your performance will INCREASE by getting it out of there.

Yeah rip that Micron stick out, and retest. Your score should be higher.

Posted by: magicalfruit187

yep that did it. i hit 3182. im thinking about moving up to a gig. how do i kno what ram wont do the same as the micron stick did?
