Hello, I would really apreciate it if you signed up for my new forum. I've really worked hard on it. Thanks.

Sorry we do not allow links to other competing technology forums.
Thankyou

Wow chopper, youre pretty lame. A board is a board, and just because your board is struggling doesnt mean another cant do well.
lame, lame.
Looks like you even edited his homepage link to "****u.com"
Even lamer.
Pathetic.
No wonder I never post here.

I dont know what your problem is!
My Forum = my rules. If you have a problem with that then leave.

Not allowing to publish competing forums is a common rule on forums. Before you start calling a person in names like lamer, you should check what he contributed. Chopper is a great person who opened this forum and have done lots of things to make it better and good-looking. And he helps lots of people around, no matter if they contributed or not.
You are the lame one. Look your steps back and you'll see that he is only helping others (and keeping his rules, and this is his privllage), and you never posted before and don't contribute (I don't know you, so I'll 'and you don't contribute here').

I've noticed that some people that start new forums want to post their ads on other foums. Then when they've gone through their growing pains and someone tries to advertise another forum, they then understand why it's not allowed. And it's the basic rules on most good forums.
Don't you like the debate tactics? Like calling names, making snap judgements, accusing failing, etc. Even the original poster didn't come back with bad rhetoric.
I know, I just don't understand. :(

There are forums with thousands of members that allow you to showcase your websites and forums.
I dont see what was so wrong about showing your board unless it was a total hack job of this place. Makes no sense.
Posted by: Mahqsim
Lets not forget how immaturely he edited his homepage link to say ****u.com. Chopper is officially branded a lamer in my book.
I also posted this thread on another large and well known forum, they also find this to be lame.
Lame is the perfect word in situations like this.

And one last thing. I really dont understand this "direct competition" thing. This is a very small board, all it has to offer right now is looks, good looks at that. But anyway, this board poses no competition to the popular which equals populated boards where people are allowed to help eachother out and show ther stuff. In boards where people are accepted for what they have to show for are very popular, I guess that explains why this board is so tiny.
Good looks dont make a good community, its the people that use it.

There are also forums with thousands of members that will allow you to showcase your website in your sig or in a special section of the forum for sites, ads, etc. Each forum is different.
On a sidenote, there has been several hack jobs of this forum. It makes perfect sense to lots of people not to allow solicitation of members for other sites. Besides, would you want someone to join your forum only to post that they need members, and possibly never come back. Now that doesn't make sense.
However, regardless of the type of forum, I don't know of any (or don't frequent the kind) where someone acting uncivil is the norm. Forums are used for discussions whether people agree or disagree. Can't people disagree without calling another person a name? It kinda' kills a persons opinion when they loose control and do such things.

Chopper made a mistake? Probably so if he added what you say. I guess that proves he is human after all, and also gets tired of people breaking the rules. But did he make the "bad" url and not the "snipped" url.
Look at these times:

Original post at 08-31-2002 at 01:33 AM

Chopper's edit at 08-31-2002 at 01:55 AM

Chopper's reply at 08-31-2002 at 01:56 AM

Mahqsim's reply at 08-31-2002 at 03:23 AM
I don't see how the "bad" url, if ever there, could have been seen by anyone. Is this a false accusation?
Mahqsim, I do have a couple of questions for you. It's because I don't understand. Why did you get so mad about someone else's post? Why did you attack every member on this forum (by suggesting this community is not good and it's the people that make it up)?
And, those are offensive debate tactics to continually belittle a forum or someone. Then to say that you're telling the world.
I don't know that anyone attacked you; I didn't. But, IMHO, your posts have attacked Chopper and all the members here. You are free to express you opinions, but I for one, would appreciate some civility.
Thanks for listening.
Oops, P.S. These are my opinions and not necessarily a reflection of this forum or any of its other members.

Who the **** says that was me that changed the homepage url.
Maybe Acez did it? or maybe you did it Mahqsim? after all the two IPs are very Very similar.
Why don't you just leave us alone. I personally think Tech-Forums is doing well and is growing at a nice easy pase.
Every forum was small at one stage. And who says i want it to grow large? ha?
Posted by: azury
now now, Chopper, leave those low-life people alone.. don't get mad my dear friend. some people just want attention. well, he got it and now hopefuly he will leave you and us alone.. in my opinion this forum is a very helpful forum and I don't care it is yet to grow.
and Mahqsim, I have one last thing to tell you. it is a beautiful expression (well, in hebrew it sounds better, but the idea stays): "the silence is beautiful for the wise".

well said azury.
as for Mahqsim when you own a forum you can let as many people as you want advertising on your site, (if u ever get any one looking at your site) chopper has done a bloody good job of this site the last thing he wants is other people putting advertising all over it.
Mahqsim you are the lame one ..|..

FYI, I own several popular boards, and not to mention I promote boards and make VB styles for boards.
Hmm....Interesting how you would make the assumption that I dont know what Im talking about.

Mahqsim, I'm really tired of this. We never said you don't know a thing about forums. there is a way and a place to give suggestions and make new ideas. and if you don't want to give any ideas and suggestions then that's for you to decide. but you can't come to a forum, telling you don't post casue the people of the forum sux and abuse the creator of the forum. feel free to express yourself in civilized way. I'm not so sure anyone would like to hear anymore of what you want and have to say now, but next time keep in mind that people worked hard for things and you don't have the right to hurt their feelings and abuse them just because you own serval popular forums.
As for the money spending. I never saw Chopper saying he don't want this forum to grow. that's for him to decide. and if he says he don't want to make this forum very large, take his word like I take your word when you say you own seral popular forums (even after you abused and hurt this forum's comunity).
Watch your own back and don't try to hurt the other's... a word for life.
Cheers Mahqsim, hopfuly this will end this unappropriate thread. I will thank you if you try to understand and don't just shoot your arrows.

You act like Im flaming everyone. I just pulled some touchy geeks card because he treated someone looking for some support for his board like ****. Like his is the greatest **** board on the planet that other people cant even utter another board.
How sad and pathetic.

Mahqsim if u notice acez only posted once so his whole reason of coming here was to advertise his site, other wise he would have posted more, if i am wrong acez plz let me know, if you even visit this site ne more.
Posted by: Mahqsim
He probably doesnt visit anymore because the joint is run by a selfsish "me me me" lamer.
Cant blame him.

For those that "own" forums, how many allow someone to make one post about their forum or business? Aren't ads either edited/deleted or place in forums for that purpose? The ones that I've been on don't allow SPAMMING. And usually the members don't get mad at the admin/owner for editing or deleting it.
Curostiy again. Mahqsim, would you PM me a list of the forums you own? I would like to see what the difference is between here and there.
Oh, and there is no evil intent to do anything to your forums. You're probably more techie than this technologically impaired member and could keep me from doing anything anyway.
Besides, if you allowed free advertisements, I would sure love to be able to post my links for stuff.
:)

Alright it seems like this thread has gone big.
Yes it was immature changing my homepage to ****u.com. And Chopper really shouldn't haven't done something so childish.
Anyone who does want to view my site, please p.m. me. But I think I will some of you. Thanks.

I do not own a forum.. but I am an Admin on one. We had a run of one time posters.. who wopuld just promote their site or forum... and that would be the last we see of them.
We decided to adopt a policy of only allowing established members... with a minimum of 100 post to promote their own sites. So far it has worked out okay. Any post promoting sites from one timers are removed... with no explanation... the explanation is in the forum rules... the ones you click to 'Accept' when you become a member.
I am in no way saying that this forum should do the same... after all.. it is up to the site owner in the end.
Posted by: Martin
Same here as well... telling about sites/advertising was a big thing previously at our site, except that the member's sole purpose of registration was to advertise. Nowadays, since the webmaster of another forum had a concern about the webmaster of our site spamming up the forum with links, so therefore we put an anti-advertising policy for our site and any site, as long as it is OK with another site/forum's rules.

Yes it was immature changing my homepage to f****u.com. And Chopper really shouldn't haven't done something so childish.
Hi Acez,
I was beginning to wonder if you'd make a comment about this thread. It seems that a lot of other people have. I see that you've done what's allowed by putting your link in your sig. I don't think anyone has a problem with that.
But speaking of the childish part, now someone has changed your homepage in your profile to http://f***-tech-forums.net. I replaced some letters with ***. Who can change profiles? The user and the admin?
Anyway, if we all can get past the name calling and arguing, I'm sure we can get to the part of helping each other out (according to the forum rules). :)

Actually, you need to learn how Administration works.
I'm an Admin for one of the top 10 gaming sites, and even I do not like people "advertising" their forums on mine. It's common sense, it has nothing to do with being "lame" as you put it.
Learn how the Internet works, and perhaps you should come back and talk.
