A lot of questions get asked about how to make a signature with a picture.
Here is my tutorial to anyone who is wondering how to make take advantage of the signature feature:
[b]1)[/b]This step is the most important. Read the [url=http://www.tech-forums.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44955]Rules for Sigs.[/url]
The biggest thing that people have a hard time with is size of their sig. The sig can be no bigger than 468x120 pixels (read the rules for more info).
[b]2)[/b]Get a free image-hosting account at places such as: [url]www.eraserinc.com[/url] [url]www.photobucket.com[/url] or [url]www.imageshack.us[/url]
[b]3)[/b]Create a sig using any image-editing software you like. The most popular image editing software on this forum seems to be [url=http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/main.html]Photoshop[/url] or [url=www.gimp.org]GIMP[/url].
The image should be saved as a JPEG or a GIF to make sure that your image-hosting website accepts it.
[b]4)[/b]Go into your [url=http://www.tech-forums.net/member.php?s=&action=editprofile]Profile[/url] and enter the [url=http://www.google.ca/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial_s&hl=en&q=define%3A+url&meta=&btnG=Google+Search]URL[/url] of your image (from the image hosting website) into the text box that is labelled with "Signature."
Be careful! You cant just add the URL of the image into the Signature text box. You have to put "tags" around it. Follow this example ---but replace the ( with [ and ) with ]---:
(IMG)[url]http://www.imagehostingwebsite.com/picture.jpg[/url](/IMG)
"http://www.imagehostingwebsite.com/picture.jpg" would be considered the URL of the picture (of course this is a mock-up for the example).
[b]5)[/b]Go to a post that you have already made to test to make sure that your picture showed up ok.

Thanks. I thought it would help new and old members alike.
It will help the old members because they dont have to type out all of that everytime a new member asks for help with their sig, and can just link to this thread.

After making it, let a mod know that you would like it stickied.
BTW, your Photoshop skills have come a long way. I remember when I made you an avatar long ago:D

Thanks for the compliment. I don't use PS, I use Fireworks. :) I'll probably post two guides....one for each. This Yoda sig that I currently have is my first try with this new style of sigs I've started making...here's some of my latest....

Is my signiture too big? I don't know the size because it's two seperate pictures. If it is ill remove one straight away :)

Way too big. If you were to just use one of those images it'd still be too big. Max dimensions are 468px x 120px.

Nope. As I said before, if you were even just use one of those sigs it would still be too big. Again, the MAXIMUM dimensions are 468x120. Currently, your sig is 400x149. It's 29 pixels too tall. I don't think I can make it much more simpler then this. It's still too tall.

i love PNG's... i just learned about them a year ago. PNG-24
not to mention they can be transparent/translucent :)
but back on subject about sigs... isnt this on the "Rules" section of the forum? Well i guess not everyone looks at that :p

No.
The only exceptions to the sig size limit are moderators (et al) and those who are Folding for TF (allowed to have a stats box).
