Remove Xfire and fix the winsock layer. Basicly..these guys are a joke. They use the winsock layer as a hiighjack to run their updates and software and this is hoseing your PING.

So if you want to fix the ping...do the following..

Open add/remove programs and remove Xfire.

Download Winsock2Fix and unzip it. Then double-click on it to run it.

Run hijackthis and fix the following entrys..

O4 - Startup: Xfire.lnk = C:\Program Files\Xfire\Xfire.exe
O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'xfire_lsp_10650.dll' missing

If you decide to keep Xfire..I suggest you visit their forum were you will find a host of users with the same issues and more.

You don't seem to be running any type of Anti-Virus Protection software:
Here is a link to some AV protections sites:

http://www.tech-forums.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18662

You may want to print out these instructions out for reference.

1. First Download CWShredder
And save it to your desktop.
Close all open browser windows and any other open windows.

Install CWShredder, then:
Open CWS and click "FIX"

2. Please run each of these online scans, allow each one to delete anything they find:
You may have to select auto-fix prior to scanning, it should be a selection on the screen.
Panda ActiveScan
TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Please make a note of anything that wasn't or couldn't be fixed.
Reboot your machine when finished.

3. You may have run these programs already, make sure they are up to date and run per provided instructions.
Current Versions are:
Spybot S&D Ver: 1.3 Download Here
Ad-Aware SE Build 1.05 Download Here

Download and install both Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware SE.

Instructions:

Spybot S&D:
Go to your Start Menu >> Programs >> Spybot S&D >> then choose Spybot S&D.

*Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
*Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
*Close Spybot then launch it again
*Click the button "Check for Problems"
*When Spybot is done scanning, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries, "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
*Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
*Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware SE FULL SCAN:
Go to your Start Menu >> Programs >> Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE >> then choose Ad-Aware SE Personal.

When the main window opens look in the bottom right corner and click on Check For Updates Now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window:
*Click Start then under Select a scan Mode check Perform Full System Scan.
*Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
*To scan just click the Next button.

When the scan has finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.
(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)
The program will ask if you want to fix/delete selected items, choose yes/fix.

Empty Your Recycle Bin.

Reboot your machine and post a new HJT log, by clicking "Post Reply"

Oh yeah and those programs that couldn't be fixed i followed them up on the Trend Micro site and did what they said to do to fix them so they should be fixed now. Emphasis on the word Should

Posted by: rstones12

Your log is looking much better, however I would still advise you to install one of the suggested Anti-Virus Applications provided:

You won't stay this way for long without one.

http://www.tech-forums.net/showthre...&threadid=18662

The online scans that you did only fix for a point in time, and you are still not protected from real time viruses.

Install one of the Anti-Virus Programs, and post back with new HJT log.

Thanks
rstones12

Yeah im gonna install AVG-7

3lite Bullet, get rid of AVG and download Avast instead...I had AVG last Dec and ended up with a boot virus that caused me to reformat my computer. Avast will delete virus/trojans/worms, AVG won't. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1968.html Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

K thx i will use that.

Posted by: Elite Bullet

Yep i got Avast now and i got rid of AVG-7.
I think its working cause it keeps saying its blocking something ill get a screenshot of it.

Posted by: Elite Bullet

This is what i get

Posted by: southernlady

And this is what it is: http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/d/dcom-exploit_txt.asp

Posted by: Elite Bullet

Oh sh!t im getting hacked great!.
Is Avast stoping it and how can i get rid of it.

Posted by: southernlady

Avast is stopping it...can't get rid of it tho, just make sure all your ports are locked down. That's where your firewall comes into play...which one do you have? Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

Just the default one that comes with windows

Posted by: Elite Bullet

Its just constantly active and downloading

Posted by: Elite Bullet

Its still just active ive uploaded 4mb in 13 mins

Posted by: southernlady

Okay, go here http://www.majorgeeks.com/download388.html You need a better one than the one provided by windows apparently. Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

should this firewall affect my ping when playing online

Posted by: southernlady

Not if you configure it to allow the site...Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

K im on my other comp but i cant seem to dial the net on my other comp cause it restarts everytime :( .
So what im gonna do is delete everything off my secondary hard drive except for the folder with all my program setup files so i can straight away as soon as i reinstall windows i can reinstall all the stuff like Zone Alarm, Ad-Aware, Avast & SpyBot S&D.

Posted by: Elite Bullet

Well if i wanna play Americas Army and run TeamSpeak 2 what do i tell the firewall to do so it doesn't affect my ping

Posted by: southernlady

I'm not sure...but the site that you play the game on should be able to tell you.

Also add spywareblaster and spywareguard and buggoff to that setup, You may not be using IE as a default browser but you have it and it's actively running behind the scenes. Bugoff takes care of some of the security holes. Just download it and on the buttons, hit enable or disable, whichever why they are set up now, do the opposite. I think the top two are disabled now so enable and the bottom one is enabled and you diable. Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

K do you know what kinda program could be causing my computer to restart everytime im just about the connect to the internet

Posted by: southernlady

Can you downlad a HiJack this to a floppy and post it that way? Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

yeah ill put it on a CD cause thats my gaming comp doesn't have a floppy drive LOL

Posted by: Elite Bullet

K thats done here's my new log

K i gotta go to bed now its 1am but ill talk to you l8er maybe in 8 hours time if your still awake :)

Posted by: Elite Bullet

did you ever get back to me???

Posted by: southernlady

Not yet...been busy all day with doctor appts and stuff...give me a few mins and I'll try and get it read, okay? Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

okay, soz sometimes its hard to remember your in a diff time zone cause ive just been asleep and its about Lunch now

Posted by: southernlady

3lite Bullet, you're clean...now you have those other5 programs downloaded yet? The spywareblaster and spywareguard? Cause I don't see evidence of them in your log. Make sure and get them. Also if you go to Mode tab of Spybot, you can chose to go to the advanced mode...use that...then go to the settings menu to the settings section. There will be some radio type buttons, scroll thru and you will see an option to download any beta versions of Spybot...if you want to try them, click yes. I use the 1.4.B2 and it catches BHO changes that the regular spybot doesn't.

Then go read the file on how I got infected in the first place...Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

K but my comp still restarts when i try to dial the internet up

Posted by: Elite Bullet

BTW can i get some links for SpyWare Blaster, Spyware Guard and the other programs

Posted by: southernlady

Look in my signature...they are listed. Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

LOL k, kool

Posted by: Elite Bullet

K im writing them to CD now and im thinking that i should just reinstall windows again load up all the anti-spyware and anti-virus stuff then connect my computer to the internet i think that may be the easier and safer option. Because my computer still is restarting everytime i try to connect to the internet.

Do you think I should just reinstall windows???

Posted by: southernlady

That's up to you. You don't seem to mind reformatting but I would hate to say go ahead...

However, if you do, make sure you have all your critical updates ready and your a/v and firewall ready to go before you even touch the internet. Liz

Posted by: Elite Bullet

Yep thats what im gonna do.
But why do you say "I hate to say go ahead..."
Because no1 seems to be really helping me with the internet problem.

Posted by: Elite Bullet

Does any1 have any idea what could be causing it cause now im stuck on my P3 600mhz, Just a little bit slow

Posted by: Elite Bullet

K im creating a cd with all the Anti-Spyware & anti-virus stuff so if i have to reinstall windows i wont have to download everything again and risk getting hit as hard or harder next time
