Do web accelerators really work? How much faster is your internet?

My experience: They work on some broadband connections, depending on how its capped and how the caching server is set up. It does not work on dial-up.

No web accelerators do not work at all. Beedubaya believes they do and thats an opinion and ok, but I can tell you they dont.

It depends on your connection. On some broadband connections, they work, and others they don't. I do know they sped my downloads from 30K to 120K when I had my 256K wireless.

Im not expert on the subjet but web accelators work on the principal that while you are reading the contents of one page on the internet, the program is using that time to download the content of pages which have links on the page you are reading, that way when you finish reading your page and click on another page you dont need to wait for it to download as it has already done so.
So really if you have broadband they are worthless.
