[*]Unplug the power cable.
[*]Remove the base plate if computer has one.
[*]Lay the case laying on its side/bottom in a horizontal position with rubber pads facing down, then press the two tabs located toward the rear of the case. These tabs are located on either side of the case and are different in color from the surrounding plastic
[*]With case open touch the metal frame inside the rear of the case to avoid ESD.
[*]Locate the empty slot(s) for the ram, located adjacent to the CPU. Press the tabs at either end of the empty slot(s) to their “open” position. When picking up the RAM do NOT hold the module by the sides, touch as little of the chip surfaces as possible; by the edges only, avoiding all chip contact areas. Verify that the notch in the RAM module correctly lines up with the slot on the motherboard and slide module into the grooves at both ends. Press firmly on the top of the module and evenly push it into the slot. A slight rocking motion by pressing on one side and then the other may be necessary, but it is preferred to insert the module as even as possible. Note that the module will only insert successfully in one direction. If the module does not seem to go easily do NOT force it. Simply back the module out making sure to only grab it by its edges (do not pinch the module by its components) and make sure that is in the proper direction needed to line up with the asymmetric slot on the motherboard.
[*]Once the module is in place and firmly secured in the slot the two tabs at either end of the slot should, in a rising motion “snap” into place securing the module to the motherboard. Ensure that all wires are properly secured in the case away from the edges and not in the way of components like the fans or CPU. Push the case closed and apply firm pressure to the rear of the case. These cases may require you to squeeze the rear corners near the tabs used to open them. Listen for a click or slightly lift on the rear of the case lid to ensure that it is properly closed
[*]Replace foot stand in the proper direction and place computer in its original position ensuring that all cables are connected at the rear of the PC. This includes the power
[*]Press the power button on the front of the case
[*]When PC boots it will issue an audible tone and display a message indicating that the memory size has changed, displaying, “Press F1 to continue, and F2 to enter Setup”
[*]Press F2
[*]When the “Setup” screen appears, press the down arrow 4 times to the line “Memory Information.” With this line highlighted press the ENTER key
[*]he first line of the next window should read, “Installed System Memory …….. 1024 MB DDR SDRAM.” If this is any different contact your coordinator.
[*]Press the ESC. key to exit
[*]Press ESC key. again to exit the Setup menu
[*]The computer will complete the boot process.
[*]Press the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys to log into Win XP
[*]enter user name and password to complete login
