What do you think is the best gaming console on the planet? PS2, XBOX, GameCube, GBA, GBA SP, anything. Battle it out but be nice!

There really is no BEST system, they all have advantages. The PS2 has the most and some of the best games, the XBOX has the best graphics and most configurability, the Gamecube has quite a few unique titles like metroid prime and is geared for a younger audience, and well, the GBA is just a badass portable, (and the only real one out there)

AMD vs. Intel, Mac vs. PC, Nvidia vs. ATI, Linux vs. Windows... it all comes down to personal preference. Which games do you play, which controller do you like, do you want to mod the **** out of it, etc. Personally I'd probably get a PS2 because it's got more games. IMO the Xbox is by far the best console, but all the Xbox exclusives eventually come out for PC anyways so why bother.

If you look at the specs the x box is by far the "best" gaming console. I favorite gaming console is by far the pc. There isn't a better console than the pc.

I agree there isn't a better console then a PC, but a PC is a PC.
I like PS2 cause it has my favorite games, the most games.
I like XBOB because of the power and the HD.
I like NGamecube because of the Mario Games.
It all comes down to what you like most, and what games you want, and how much power you want. Its a hard choice but my personal fav is PS2.

While I am not a younger audience the Gamecube is nice. I like to play all the newer games of the games I use to play as a kid.
I also like the PS2 for the fact that there is a huge amount of games for it.
The XBOX would be cool, except there are no games that I can't get on the PS2. XBOX remains completely superior in hardware and I am sure with the advent of more games will be a great system.

XBOX could be better if it had more games. If it had better games, it would get bought more and may pass up the PS2, but that prpbably won't happen.

I agree. Its just that I already had a PS2 and all the games with the exception of a few (i.e. Halo) were on both systems.

If I could go back I probably would have opted for an XBox instead of the PS2. The PS2 was great because of the amount of games, the fact that most people converting from a PSOne would still have compatibility to use their existing library, and they already have the relationships will most of the software manufacturers. I enjoy EA Sports Games on the PS1 and still continue with the PS2.
However, said that, and the fact I am not really into the core advantages of the Gamecube, I would have purchased an XBox mainly due to the fact it is a much more powerful unit. It puts out a high def signal for my RPTV and performs 5.1 on more than just the DVD cutscenes. It is also rolling out many more games. In the longrun, I believe (my opinion), that it will be a wiser decision.
Simple, weigh out the pros and cons for your interests, that is why each system has done so well, they are right for different reasons.

Yes he was.. the first villian since Sephiroth to really **** me off and make me hate him. FFX was Great!!! Ending ****ed me off a little though.

i think the xbox is by far the best console (and i have GC, PS2, XBOX, and PC, so im not bias) simply because:
1) xbox exclusives all rock (ie: halo, unreal championshiup)
2) multiplatform realeases are usually better on the big, green box (except for jamesbond nightfire, the 'Cube got the grenade launcher with cluster bombs, the *******s)
3) HDD
4) no **** multitap, now i know GC has 4 ports too, but it dont that many great 4-player games, with my ps2, half the time my multitap didnt work
5) Xbox live, now i know PS2 and GC have online capabilities, but xobox live blows them both away

Having spent hours typing games in on a .....wait for it.....VIC20 (anyone remember them?). Any of these new Hi-res multi colour and stereo sound! games things are just great. Also once purchased thats it you don't need to change graphics cards, sound cards, download patches or change your operating system.

the only reason i have my ps2 is for the ps2-exclusive games, if microsoft could figure out a way to get squaresoft to come over to the big green box (which i dont know why they dont, i mean the xbox is the perfect RPG console with its hdd) i wouldnt even own a ps2

I like the Xbox in terms of expandability, PS2(fav) because of lots of game titles, andGC for Smash Bros. Melee.
Dont they all have 128-bit processors? Just wonderin

actually there is no such thing as a 128 bit processor as of yet, now the ps2 (i believe) and xbox (for sure) have 128 bit GRAPHICS, but the GC only has 64 bit GRAPHICS, its no the processor, its the graphics that s 128 bit, the biggest processor is only 64 bits and they arent even mainstream yet

wtf? then if a 64 bit processor can process 64bits/8bytes at a time, then how do we(Intel) get a processor so fast 3GHz+? :confused:
And I think they already have the 512bit graphics card if im not mistaken

No! The XBox and GC have 128 bit graphics the PS2 only has 64 bit graphics.

I say PS2. I'm a real common sence type of guy. I don't care if one beats the other by 2 pts in some benchmark. Here's why I prefer PS2:
1. I love that Sony made most of the periphials (controllers, av cables) reverse compatable. I didn't need to go out and buy a new PS controller when I got my PS2 because I had a few from my PS1. This is great with games too. Even with the PS3, they will be able to play the original PS games. This shows that they care about the consumer's past investment.
2. Games. PS2 has a crapload. And they're all different types. If I want a sports game, I can choose between 6 different football games. With Xbox, I have a choice of 2 or 3. Also, most EA sports games arn't online for the X-box.
3. I hate Micro$oft. All they want is your money. Sure, all companies are like that. But why should I pay for X-box Live? My internet connection already costs money. Now I have to pay to play my X-box games online? That's gay.
4. Controllers. PS2 controllers are comffortable to use and have a common sence layout. They fit nicely in my hands. The X-box controller was built for a freaking giant.
That's all I've got now.

xbox is the most capable, but for some reason developers don't seem to care, and make all the good games for ps2. all the good geames, that is, except for the very best one: halo. halo is such a great game, i personally think that that one game alone makes xbox the best console. and when halo 2 comes out...

i love my ps2, but i love my xbox more, my ps2 has some great games, but my xbox has halo, otogi, wolfenstein, and is soon to have:
halo2
half life 2
doom 3
i mean, that lineup is enough to make any die-hard gamer squeal, lol now ps2 has final fantasy and megaman, so its hard to beat, but they havent released a new one of either of those in years (ffx and mmx5 i think) sure ffxi is out, but who wants p2p games? i dont play every game i own, so i dont want it sitting there on the shelf, i try to balance my time between all my games (give them equal love) but right now im stuck on warcraft 3: tft, that game is so **** fun!!!

to me the best gaming console was the nes. it had tons of games and had variety to no end. i like the 'cube but i still think of those great old days and original zelda and mike tyson's punch out.

I never had a nes because i was poor :) , my first system was the SNES and i remember having the most fun with this playing Zelda: A link to the past, for like 2 years. Super scope 6 was pretty fun. I played my SNES all the time and I have yet to play any of the recent consoles this much. So im gonna say SNES was the best system ever, for me.
