sometimes when i try to move (cut and paste) a large file on my hard drive, it gives the error "Cannot move *****: it is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.
It would say this even though there was no program using it.

here's the fix:
tools >> folder options >> view >> put a check on "launch folder windows in a separate process"

there are other ways to fix it. if you are using a prog that allows other ppl to acess the file- bit torrent or anything else. shut that down. secondly the main culprit is "details" in the side menu in xp. (its previewing the file) if this is the case on the side menu under "files and folders task" choose "move this file". that should shut down the preview and allow you to move the file

i have also encountered the prob in the past, when was trying to delete a file. the way that i bypassed it was... i used the delete cmd threw the comand prompt. the move cmd would prolly bypass it also.
