Hmm, I havne't given it a shot as of yet. Can you tell me what's new in it? And do I have to uninstall my current Ad-Aware to install the "SE" version? Thanks...

Theres a summary of whats new here http://www.lavasoftnews.com/theeye/i22/a1.html and also part of the install package will uninstall previous versions for you. :)

i noticed that on www.downloads.com but i havent downloaded it... i would like to know if its better.

Posted by: *PyRo*

Yeah id say it is it seems to scan more and looks a bit better as well as having way more options

Posted by: ADZ

it seems to be picking up a lot more than it usually does, i give it thumbs up. Looks a little cleaner too.

when you install SE It will uninstall the old Adaware for you. I like it, it seems to do a more thorough job. but the best fix is the buttons along the top, they finally stand out.

Posted by: Toshiro

I never even noticed that those were buttons before I got Ad-Aware SE, haha...

But I do like the new look and better scanning. I have to run mine at least every other day and usually find at least 15 things to remove. Mostly tracking cookies but sometimes I get bad stuff like browser hijackers and such.

I got it and it worked just fine, besides a few tweaks to the interface, it works pretty solid.

Got no errors when installing it. Must have been some random problem that occured when you installed it MB.

Putting any new features and interface improvements aside, it just detects things the old one AND Spybot didn't, making it an essential download. Anything that reduces the need to suffer with HijackThis and manual registry editing is worthwhile.

Ehh...better than 6 but its nothing outstandingly amazing...but it'd probably pick up more crap off your computer indeed. I've always hated it how when I set my browsers homepage to about:blank ad-aware picks it up as a 'possible browser hijack'

watch out for the "marginal" things it puts up and just leave them alone... I was just deleting them left and right just not paying attention and it pretty well trashed my system.
Later on another forum read that this is happening a great deal. Just glad I wasnt the only one. So, just something to watch out for.

I love Ad-Aware, it's easy to use AND free!

I like it, except when I had a couple of pieces of spyware, it crashed (and gave me a 60 second prompt to reboot) when it started scanning my computer :S I had to manually clean out the programs before I could get on with the scan properly.

Weird.

i didnt hv any prob running adaware se so far...

Posted by: npp

So far it seems to work really well..

I consistently run ad-aware 6.0 on my system 2-3 times a week so I was very happily surprised when this new version picked up 39 things to remove on a full system scan.

Two thumbs up!

Ad-Ware is by far the best, SS&D use to be the best but then it got lazy, then it was SpySweeper which was at the time the best which wasnt to long ago but they got lazy too and didnt update, and now Adware is easy to use and it updates alot. O AND IF YOU WANT A VIRUS SCANNER get AVG 7.0 I think thats the best too.

I think Ad-Aware is great. The new version does look alot cleaner too.

As long as you keep updating the list, it's great.

Posted by: Brisky

Yeah this version is alot better then the older one.

At least for me it is. Finally it sees the horrible browerser crap that is the isearch bar. I have been fighting that program for monthes. :(

Now I know its gone for good. Bless Ad-Aware!

Oh and no lockups for me either.

Adaware SE rocks. It is great for people who don't know much about computers because it updates the definition list right when you run it for the first time. I have suggested it to many people... You know what else rocks that I just started using today (but I have known about for months) HiJackThis. The logging option is amazing, especially when you have like 30 computers all with custom processes, it really helps weed out the bad seeds.

I like it so far, there's a bit more to it than the old 6.0 version.

I have used SE since its release and have enjoyed it much more than build 6. It scans more throughly and finds more files. First time i ran SE right after i installed it, note i ran 6 before the install, SE found 60 new files on the first scan. Id have to say thumbs up.
