[burning iDVDs] -

I have a G4 mini tower with an external DVD burner. (The internal drive is CD writeable only.) After creating a movie in iDVD, now I can't burn it to an external drive. Apple tells me iDVD only recognizes an internal drive. My choices seem to be either spend more money for an internal DVD writeable drive like a Pioneer, or find a work-around so I can burn my iDVD movie to a DVD-R using the external drive. The end use point of the DVD would be a standard DVD player on a monitor. Toast 5 is no help. Any suggestions?

As far as I know iDVD, unfortunately, does not support external DVD burners. I had the notion that the new iLife upgrade (carrying iDVD 4) gave it the ability to use external burners but I cant find a mention of that capability anywhere.
