Discuss I want to stay logged in...

I keep getting logged out even though I set it in option to have me automatically logged in upon return and browse the board with cookies.
Still I keep having to log in everytime I come here. :(
Any ideas?

What is your cookie setting one your computer itself? If your computer settings are set to NOT ALLOW cookies the login process wont auto login
Posted by: Drachewyn
It must be set to accept cookies because I don't have to log in to any of the other forums I visit.
I also have other websites that I keep myself logged into via cookies.

I am assuming that one of those websites is the webmaster-talk site?
I am not sure what might be the problem. But could you try one thing, PLEASE. Go to control panel --->Internet Options--->click the tab [privacy] ----if not already set the scale to except all cookies.
You sre right chancess are that this is already done. But there is a difference in "cookies". there are first party and third party. if the settings are not set properly you might have the problem that is occurring
I hope this helps

In your forum user control panel make sure that:
*Remember Username and password
*Browse boards with cookies
are set to YES
cheers

Both of these under options in the CP are set to yes:
Automatically login when you return to the site? (uses cookies)
Browse board with cookies?

I checked and I am not accepting all cookies and I really don't want to. I have it set on low though.
What I did do that may help is put tech-forums.net in the list of domains that are always allowed.
This might make all the difference. :) If it does I will be sure and let you know.
One other thing is why the notification emails sends out the IP address rather than the web address?

Did you try listing the IP and the domain in the list of domains that are always allowed?

Ok Drachewyn, I got a dumb*** question for you. When you close this site are you hitting the logout button or are you just closing the page all together. If you hit the logout button all cookies will be cleared and you will have to login when you visit the next time.
Posted by: Drachewyn
Toby, I never hit the log out button/link. I never do on any of the boards I visit. :D
I have the problem fixed now though so all is well. :)
Posted by: Toby
was just a thought. And great to hear you fixed the problem

hey Chopper, I think it might be a good idea to include this problem in the help section...i and others (especially XP users), seem to have had some trouble...originally, i thought the board just hated me :-P
