I'm on Windows 98 second edition.

My internet connection has been working fine for a year and now in the past few weeks it's gone really bad.

I click connect and it dials maybe the first 10 tones of the dialup music, but then stops making any sound at all and fails. And sometimes it gets to "Verifying username and password" and stays there for several seconds and fails again.

It DOES work eventually with about 5 tries but then stops working in the middle of the browser session.

Anyone got any ideas???

sounds like your provider is the problem.
Or maybe your modem is going bad.

Start with talking with your provider (see if something has changed) and also do a diagnostic tests on your modem.

try recreating your DUN. (Dial Up Network) if you have DUN that (he he he) then contact yer ISP.
