my friend had this P2P prog called "Grokster" (runs off kazaa network) and when he uninstalled it and cleaned his pc with Adaware to get rid of the ads and spyware his cable modem wouldnt connect to the net!!!!

we looked in network connections and his cable connection wasnt there

does anyone kno how to fix this bs problem?

I think what probably happened is he uninstalled newdotnet

once you take that out, it sometimes removes the TCP/IP protocol. Go into your network settings anbd install it again. or go in there and see if there is a TCP/IP

Agreed. NewDotNet is a pain in the tush. Once you install the TCP/IP protocol again, you'll be set.

If that doesn't help the download this to a floppy and run it on the pc by opening it and clicking the "finish " button.

Then :
Please get Spybot S&D to clear out any spyware.
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=mirrors

Install the program and open it.

Before doing any scanning click Online and Search for Updates .
Put a check mark at and install all updates .
Click Check for Problems nd when the scan is finished have Spybot fix all it finds marked in red .

Then after reboot :
Download 'Hijack This! http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the " scan " button will change into a " save log " button.
Press that, save the log , load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.
