Discuss replacing an iBook LCD monitor

Anyone know what's the best way to get it replaced?
I don't have warranty or anything. I just want to know if it's better to do it myself or to just go to the Apple dealer and get ripped up.

Well, I wouldnt advise doing it yourself. Id take it to an Apple dealer and get the price of the replacement. Then consider whether you actually need the computer to still be mobile. If you dont, you can always run a mirrored second monitor and screw the x amount of money youd spend on reparing it. If you do need mobility, then get it replaced. there are no thrid party iBook LCD replacements that Apple allows (I dont even think they exist period) so your best bet is to just see how much a replacement is.

If you think you are talented enough to install one yourself, you can find them on ebay or other auction sites. But I HIGHLY advise you take it to the pros.

LCDs arent things to be tampered with if you arent trained to replace them. Seriously, they are very fragile pieces and you can permanently ruin a computer if you install one incorrectly.
