Ok i need help bad. on my other computer which is my primary computer ( or was) i got a virus or something and i dont know what it is . Ive tried everything but nothing helps. What is happening is the mouse seems to have a mind of its own. When i go up it takes over and goes left , right , up down. It also opens programs, it commonly opens the user accounts section. And another thing, when i start windows in safe mode there is another account called administrator that i didnt create. I dont know the password and im really mad. Im running of windows XP professional , if anyone can help me that would be greatly apreciated. Im thinking about reinstalling but i want to see if i can solve this without doing that.

well the way you discribed it sounds like a virus. can't be ad-aware or spyware. are you good with computers? or are you just a regular. i'm going to need to know before helping so its easier for you.

im very good with computers. if i dont know something i learn it.

when you say you don't know the password, do you mean its been changed or what. or are you sayin someone made an administrative accound and made a password. kuhz if thats the case then it seems like someone is accessing your computer from somewhere else. kinduz like hacking. i'm not positive tho. i'll tell other people to take this to their attention.

the administrator account is only visible in when i start windows in safe mode and i doubt its hackers because my computer has been like this since november or so. ( im a little lazy yeah) Got rid of internet and everything and i turned it on today and still the same so no one else is axcessing it.

well i told some moderators to come help ya out. this is over my head really. i guess you can wait a lil longer seeing that this has been goin on since november. i tried my best. sry

Have you tried logging in as the administrator and not tpying in a password? I think it sets it as a default w/out a pword.

As far as the mouse thing goes, if it is an optical, chage the USB port, and re-install the drivers. on top of that, make sure your antivirus is well up to date.

Also do a scandisk and defrag.

did all that. Its not the mouse because ive tried several mouses and sometimes it even moves when im not even touching the mouse.

Posted by: yashar

take the mouse out of its socket....... if it still moves then you prolly have to reinstall xp.

do an online virus scan. if you can get that far with the annoying mouse thing.

I would reccomend a re-install of xp if all else fails. Is it a USB mouse?

Posted by: drifterX

no its not a usb and i cant do a online virus scan because i got rid of the internet a while back on that computer. but yeah it might come down to just having to reinstall XP

It would save a LOT of time instead of ****ing around. Back up yur bits on a CD and F-Disk, Format, Reload.

Good Luck.

for your mouse behaving erratic, i would try to test whether your ps/2 mouse port is the cause of your problem. test using a serial mouse on the serial port. i beleive you have some grounding issue with the mouse. i have never experienced this problem before so my advice is limited.

your second "problem" is because winXP creates a account with the username administrator. when winXP is installed it asks for the password to create the administrator account.

this account is hidden by default, it can be accessed from safe mode. this is what you are seeing. you need to ask whoever installed winXP to give you the password. otherwise you can log into any other account which has administrative access.

if the account you usually use has administrative access you can use that account instead. someone had posted a link to a site about a password reset disk. i cannot seem to find this thread.

Please get Spybot S&D to clear out any spyware.
 http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=mirrors

Install the program and open it.

Before doing any scanning click Online and Search for Updates .
Put a check mark at and install all updates .
Click Check for Problems nd when the scan is finished have Spybot fix all it finds marked in red .

Then after reboot :
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ or from http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=3155&file=3&evp=3304750663b552982a8baee6434cfc13
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the " scan " button will change into a " save log " button.
Press that, save the log , load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.
