I'm going to try installing a Mandrake 9.2 in a serperate partition on my computer. To get a feel for it because I've heard great things about it. But I've run into some difficulties as far as finding my monitor's [maximum sychronization frequency] its a 17" TFT LCD monitor the only information it has in english is Model No. 821A. and 17" TFT LCD monitor.

My driver that loaded thru Win98SE shows a GEM GL-821A, which I traced back and to Scanport the monitor is identical except they show there manufacture on the back of the monitor, where mine doesn't. It shows 1280x1024 at 75.0Hz/80.0KHz is this what I'm looking for?

Blink... that sounds about right as far as the freqs go. Don't know what the lit specs are for your monitor, but if it worked before using those freqs, then give her a go.
