i have aol 9.0 broadband
DSL
linksys wireles b router (BEFW11S4)
windows xp home

im using a liniksys wirless pci card (wmp11 )
windoes xp profesional

my computer is fine
but my 2nd computer is not

my original condition on my 2nd computer:
-rarley have signal
-cant even find my router
-turn on the comp and i am able to go oneline without running aol(if have signal)
-can go on using regular phoneline

curent condition:
-have signal(it saids very good)
-but cant go online
-cant log on via phoneline

another question:

if i end up having to use wired networking
once i have linked the other comp with an ethernnt cable, would the comp be connected to the internet instanly? how does wired
networking work?

my comp have to log on to aol for me to have internet connection, but mt 2nd comp dont, can my 1st comp not log on to aol and hve intenet connection as well?

Do you know your router's internal IP address?
The default for the Linksys router you have is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Open up internet explorer and type one of these addresses in. You'll be brought into a login dialog box. If you haven't changed it then it is Username: admin Password: admin
After you Login goto the Status tab and find the Internet IP address of the router. Does it have a value for the areas circled in the picture?

No, As long as you are connected to the router and have a signal from the router then you can just use the internal address from the router to connect to it. This is how you would normally set it up so that you can get the router (really a gateway) to obtain an external IP address. My picture is a bad example because I have multiple router's chained together so the Internet address appears to be the same. Your internal (LAN) and your external (Internet) are going to be totally different.

no it does not have internect access

i can not do that on both of my computers.

my working comp just can go to that page

my 2nd computer is not connect to the internet, so a window pops up "connect or work offline"
-if i click conect, the same windows pop up
-if i click work offline, it goes to a error page

i checked the pci configurationm utility, it says no signal while the taskbar said there is
on the task bar both Xp's and linksys connection checking thing saids "connected"

but when i, open the linksys configuratrion utility

also, on the configuration utilty

the "site servey" and "link info" says: ad-hoc mode
but the "profile" is set for infrastructure mode

the picture/logo thingy that it detects dont show my router,
the picture is a wireless nootbook adapter(which i dont have)
and it saids no signal while the taskbar says yes

by the way, i am AIMing, but u were away and is idled, so you probaly not on that computer, i just thought aiming would be better/easier
